Dilan and Yaritza Excel at Region 4 Spanish Spelling Bee

Dilan, who secured his spot at the regional competition after excelling in Aldine ISD’s inaugural District Spanish Spelling Bee in December, showcased his dedication and linguistic skills against top regional competitors. Yaritza also demonstrated outstanding performance, earning a coveted spot in the statewide Spanish Spelling Bee competition.

“We are incredibly proud of Dilan and Yaritza for their hard work and perseverance,” said Migdalia Treviño, Aldine ISD program director of multilingual curriculum. “Their achievements highlight the importance of bilingual education and the talents of our multilingual students. Their accomplishments are a testament to their hard work and the dedication of our educators in fostering a love for language learning.”

The Region 4 Spanish Spelling Bee brings elementary and middle school students together to demonstrate mastery of Spanish vocabulary and spelling. The competition provides an opportunity for students to strengthen their language skills while celebrating cultural and linguistic diversity.

Aldine ISD launched its inaugural districtwide Spanish Spelling Bee on Dec. 11, 2024, underscoring the district’s commitment to bilingualism and academic excellence. Dilan and Yaritza were among the top students who emerged as district champions and advanced to the next level of competition.

Yaritza’s Spanish teacher is Kristal Rubio. Dilan’s instructional specialist is Yazmín Chavarría.

Yaritza Heads to the State Competition

The top two winners in each category have been invited to compete in the statewide Spanish Spelling Bee. Valladares will represent the Houston area at the bee, which will be held in El Paso, TX, on June 18 and 19, 2025.
