ALDINE — The Aldine ISD Esports program successfully hosted its fourth HADO Tournament, known as the HADO Cup Championship, on Saturday, May 10. The event brought together 19 students from five elementary campuses to compete in 15 exciting matches, showcasing the growing popularity and impact of esports in the district.
Participating campuses included Escamilla, Stehlik, Orange Grove, Hill, and Marcella elementary schools. The competition was structured in two phases—round robin and playoffs—designed to give each team the opportunity to demonstrate teamwork, agility and strategy.
The Hill Hawks Gaming Club emerged as the tournament champions, securing first place and earning the honor of having their team name and player roster engraved on the coveted Cup Trophy. Team members Ainalem Garcia, Leilani Arias, Yuritza Hernandez and Azariah Betts led their squad to victory.
Second place was awarded to the Escamilla Bulldogs Gaming Club, represented by Adriel Morales, Chris Covarrubias, Ruben Covarrubias and Roberto Rodriguez. The Orange Grove Gaming Club rounded out the top three, with Erick Argueta, Ivan Sifuentes, Sebastian Solano and Jorge Ramos earning third place honors.
In addition to the impressive student performances, the event drew strong support from the community. A total of 32 parents attended the tournament, along with campus administrators, reinforcing the district’s commitment to esports as a valuable extracurricular and educational opportunity.
“The HADO Cup continues to grow each year, not just in the number of participants, but in the level of enthusiasm from families, staff, and students,” said Michael Molitor. “We’re proud to provide a platform where students can shine in new and exciting ways.”
The HADO Tournament is part of Aldine ISD’s broader push to innovate and engage students through competitive, tech-forward activities that promote critical thinking, collaboration and digital literacy.
