Joe V’s Smart Shop Opens in Aldine Community, Donates to Local Schools

HOUSTON – Joe V’s Smart Shop marked the grand opening of its latest store at I-45 and West Road in the Aldine community by giving back to local schools and the community.

As part of the grand opening, Joe V’s Smart Shop donated a book vending machine to Bussey Elementary School and Stehlik Elementary School. Each machine will be stocked with 500 free books for elementary-age learners. The company also provided school supplies, snacks for teacher breakrooms, and a $500 gift to each campus.

“We have not served the Aldine community enough, with enough grocery stores,” Helfman said. “When this location became available, we were very excited to put the Joe V’s Smart Shop here. Focusing on fresh food and fresh produce, we knew it would be accessible to the community.”

Helfman emphasized the store’s dual mission of affordability and community impact. Shoppers can expect 15 to 20% discounts on products compared to traditional grocery stores, while students and teachers will benefit from educational and classroom support.

“Education is important to us,” Helfman said. “If we don’t educate the next generation, we don’t have a productive workforce or a community that is living out their dreams. If we can start them young and help them with their reading journey, we are excited to be a part of that.”

The new Joe V’s Smart Shop is a 55,000-square-foot store located at 10241 North Freeway Service Road. It is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The innovative price-format grocery store offers fresh produce, in-store cut meats, tortillas, and breads made daily, as well as fresh sushi prepared on-site.
