Aldine ISD to Celebrate College, Career, and Military Readiness Week Nov. 17–21

Districtwide activities highlight student pathways into college, careers, and military service.

The Aldine Independent School District will host College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) Week from November 17 to November 21, 2025, featuring a week of engaging, age-appropriate activities designed to help students explore their postsecondary options and prepare for lifelong success.

Each day of CCMR Week will focus on a specific theme — from college awareness and career exploration to military appreciation and financial literacy — giving students in prekindergarten through 12th grade meaningful opportunities to envision their futures.

“CCMR Week gives every Aldine student the chance to see what’s possible,” said Michael Minter, director of college readiness. “Whether it’s discovering a dream job, learning about college life, or hearing from those who serve in the military, our goal is to help students see the many paths available to them after graduation.”

Superintendent Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney stated that the district’s focus on readiness directly supports Aldine’s vision and mission, as outlined in its Accelerate strategic plan.

“We created more opportunities for college and career readiness by expanding advanced academics options like the Accelerated College Academy, opening early college high schools, expanding dual-credit access, and launching innovative P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High) school programs and specialized CTE pathways,” Dr. Goffney said. “Through these efforts, we have increased the percentage of students graduating CCMR-ready — rising from 45% in 2021 to a projected rate exceeding 90% this year. These results reflect our mission to prepare every student for success in college, career, and life, and our vision to give choices and opportunities to our students today and in the future.”

Aldine ISD’s Portrait of a Graduate further defines what readiness looks like beyond high school, emphasizing the district’s commitment to developing students who reflect, learn, lead, and navigate the world around them. These aims, Dr. Goffney said, “position Aldine students to fulfill their potential as purposeful and impactful individuals.”

Aldine ISD Themed Days for CCMR Week:

Monday, November 17 — “My Future Starts Now!” (College Awareness Day): Students wear college colors, take virtual tours, and hear from staff about college experiences.
Tuesday, November 18 — “Embody Your Dreams” (Career Exploration Day): Students dress as their future professions, engage with local professionals, and participate in career-themed activities.
Wednesday, November 19 — “Support Our Current and Future Troops” (Military Appreciation Day): Schools honor veterans and active service members through guest panels, ROTC demonstrations, and classroom activities.
Thursday, November 20 — “Financial Literacy & Scholarships Day”: Students learn about saving, budgeting, and applying for scholarships, while seniors receive guidance on FAFSA/TASFA and interview preparation.
Friday, November 21 — “CCMR Spirit Rally”: The week concludes with schoolwide celebrations, goal walls, and opportunities for students to showcase their college acceptances, career plans, or military enlistments.
