Aldine ISD Launches Aldine Talks: Black History Beyond the Classroom Video Series

Disponible en: Español

In celebration of Black History Month, Aldine ISD is amplifying student voices through the launch of Aldine Talks: Black History Beyond the Classroom, a new video series that highlights student-centered storytelling.

The series is an inaugural project coordinated by the Aldine ISD Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Department in collaboration with the 2026 Black History Month Committee and the Aldine ISD Office of Communications. Aldine Talks debuts during Black History Month and replaces the district’s former Black History Oratory Competition with a modern, digital platform designed to broaden students’ perspectives.

Throughout February, new videos will premiere weekly on the Aldine ISD YouTube channel, featuring high school students sharing powerful reflections on Black history, identity, excellence, and lived experience — beyond the classroom walls.

The series launched with a student feature from Davis High School senior Brandon Whitney, whose video sets the tone for the monthlong celebration of student voice and storytelling.

Families, staff, and students are encouraged to:

  • Watch the weekly video premieres
  • Like and share the videos to show school pride
  • Engage with student stories throughout Black History Month

By supporting Aldine Talks, the Aldine community continues its promise to honor history, uplift student voices, and celebrate excellence across the district.

To follow the series, subscribe to the Aldine ISD YouTube channel and turn on notifications for new releases throughout February.
