Aldine ISD Offers Online Parent Learning Sessions to Help Families Support Student Success at Home

Disponible en: Español

Virtual sessions in March and April introduce families to intervention tools, learning platforms, and strategies that increase student growth.

What if the tools teachers use in the classroom could also support learning at home?

Aldine ISD’s Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Department offers upcoming online parent learning sessions. These sessions will help families understand the resources and strategies students use in school.

These sessions give parents and caregivers practical tools to support their children’s academic growth, reinforce positive behavior, and stay connected to their children’s learning.

The FACE Department empowers families as partners in education by providing resources, training, and opportunities. Its mission is to strengthen school, family, and community partnerships so every student is given the support they need to succeed.

“We want families to feel confident supporting their children’s learning,” said LaTashia Abrams, executive director of Family and Community Engagement. “When parents understand classroom tools and how to reinforce them at home, it strengthens home-school connections and helps students succeed in school, work, and life.”

March and April Virtual Parent Learning Sessions

All sessions are free and offered virtually, making it easier for families to participate from home. Simply visit the school district’s Family and Community University (fcu.aldineisd.org) for details and links to view virtually.

Iván Tamayo, FACE specialist for Family and Community University, stated that each session is carefully chosen to support learning from the start to the end of the school year. The goal is to give parents tools to support and enhance learning at home.

Most classes are offered in the morning, with FACE hosting an English session at 9:00 a.m. and a Spanish session at 11:00 a.m. Once in a while, an evening session may be offered, with a 5 p.m. English session and a 6:30 p.m. Spanish option.
