The national academic honors help students stand out to colleges and celebrate achievement in PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10 and AP coursework.
Aldine ISD is celebrating 344 high school students who earned honors through the College Board’s 2026 National Recognition Program, a distinction that helps high-achieving students showcase their academic accomplishments to colleges and universities across the country.
The College Board National Recognition Program honors students for strong academic performance on the PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10 or Advanced Placement exams. Students may earn one or more designations, including the School Recognition Award and the First-Generation Recognition Award.
This year, Aldine ISD students earned 217 School Recognition Awards and 127 First-Generation Recognition Awards, with honorees representing the Classes of 2027 and 2028.
For many students, the recognition represents more than an academic distinction. It can open doors to college opportunities, helping students stand out in the admissions process and connect with institutions seeking high-achieving scholars.
“This recognition reflects the talent, determination and potential of our students,” said Aldine ISD Superintendent Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney. “It also speaks to the commitment of our educators and families who continue to create opportunities for students to excel. We want every student in Aldine ISD to know that their hard work matters and that their future is full of possibilities.”
According to the College Board, eligible students are among the highest-achieving students in their school communities. Colleges and universities may use the recognition to identify and connect with students who have opted into the College Board’s Student Search Service, providing another pathway to recruitment and scholarship opportunities.
To qualify, students must demonstrate strong academic performance through qualifying PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10 or AP exam scores and maintain a cumulative GPA of B+ or higher.
Districtwide, 344 of 748 Aldine ISD students who submitted earned recognition, representing 54 percent of submitted students.
Recognition spanned Aldine ISD high schools and specialty programs, with Davis High School leading the district with 96 honorees, followed by Blanson Career and Technical Education High School with 67, MacArthur High School with 38, Carver High School with 28, Aldine High School with 25 and Victory Early College High School with 22. Young Women’s Leadership Academy posted a perfect mark, with all eight submitted students earning recognition.
“We are proud of these students for the work they have put in to earn these distinctions,” said Dr. Pelezo. “These honors reflect academic excellence, perseverance and preparation for what comes next. It is exciting to see so many Aldine students gaining recognition that can help expand their college opportunities.”
The recognition underscores Aldine ISD’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to rigorous academic opportunities, including Advanced Placement coursework, college readiness assessments and school-based support systems that help students prepare for life after high school.
Students who receive an email invitation from the College Board must officially claim their awards through BigFuture by completing the verification process and confirming their GPA, assessment scores and award designation information. Once approved, students can download their official award certificate through their BigFuture profile.
