Aldine ISD foreign language teacher Renee López, who is based at the Bamberg Professional Development and Resource Center, has received the Texas Digital Learning Association’s (TxDLA) 2026 John A. Baker Memorial Award for Excellence in K–12 Digital Learning.

The award recognizes K–12 educators who demonstrate excellence in digital learning. López serves students across multiple Aldine ISD campuses, expanding access to world language instruction for students who may otherwise face scheduling barriers or limited course availability.

Through personalized virtual instruction, López supports both first-time Spanish learners and native speakers. She uses adaptive learning tools that adjust to individual student performance and creates digital lesson resources that she shares with fellow educators. López also serves on district committees that help evaluate and implement instructional technology.

“Renee López exemplifies what high-quality online learning can make possible for students,” said Dr. Shanaya Anderson, Aldine ISD’s director of online learning. “Her expertise, creativity and commitment ensure that students across our district have meaningful access to Spanish instruction, regardless of scheduling or campus-based staffing limitations. We are proud to see her innovative work and dedication to personalized learning recognized by TxDLA.”

“I am truly honored and grateful to receive this award,” said López. “Thank you to Dr. Anderson, Dr. Veronica Johnson, and Dr. Alison Jackson for nominating me for this worthy award. This recognition is not just mine-it belongs to our online learning team who encourages me every single step of the way. It is an honor to represent Aldine ISD and its students.”

López was recognized by TxDLA, a nonprofit professional organization dedicated to advancing digital learning in Texas. Award presentations took place during the TxDLA 2026 Conference in Galveston.
