Davis High School Graduate Earns $10,000 Performing Arts Scholarship

Recent Davis High School graduate Jessica Arredondo is taking her passion for theater to the next level after being awarded a $10,000 performing arts scholarship from the G-Squared Foundation.

Arredondo, a member of the Davis High School Class of 2026, was selected for the talent-based scholarship after submitting a video audition and other required materials. She will attend Lamar University this fall, where she plans to major in Communication and Theatre/Film Studies.

During her time at Davis, Arredondo was a dedicated member of the theater program, participating in UIL One-Act Play and earning recognition as a National Thespian Performer. She also appeared in productions including Little Shop of Horrors, The Wiz, and Medea. In addition to performing, she served as a production stage manager and contributed as a member of the technical crew.

“Jessica is a highly intelligent, outgoing, and studious individual who brings passion and dedication to everything she does,” said Davis theater director Clifford Alexander. “Her work in UIL One-Act Play and recognition as a National Thespian Performer showcase not only her remarkable talent on stage, but also her commitment to excellence and artistic growth.”

Alexander said Arredondo’s ability to interpret roles with depth and authenticity, combined with her leadership and professionalism, made her an invaluable member of the theater program.

“Whether guiding younger students, collaborating with cast members, or contributing to production teams, she leads with confidence, positivity, and professionalism,” Alexander said. “Jessica’s blend of creativity, intelligence and dedication has uniquely prepared her to excel at the collegiate level.”

Coming Full Circle

Houston native Gary Guidry, CEO of G-Squared Events, established the G-Squared Foundation. Guidry and producing partner Je’Caryous Johnson, CEO of Je’Caryous Entertainment, are both Aldine ISD graduates and have built careers producing and touring theatrical productions and concerts.

For Arredondo, the scholarship provides an exciting opportunity to continue developing her talents while pursuing her education and future career in theater and film.
