Toby McCraw, the art teacher at Impact Leadership Academy in Aldine ISD, has achieved a significant milestone by being selected as a Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH) Teacher Advisory Group member. This selection is not just remarkable, but it’s a testament to his dedication and expertise. It marks the first time the advisory group has expanded beyond Houston ISD, welcoming art educators from across the region to influence the museum’s future educational programs.
The Teacher Advisory Group (TAG), launched in October 2021, is a passionate cohort of educators dedicated to shaping the direction of CAMH’s Education and Public Programs Department. As a member of TAG, McCraw will not just play a pivotal role, but his influence will be significant in providing strategic recommendations, contributing to the writing of exhibition materials, and advocating for the museum’s programs within his school and the broader community.
Kaileigh Newman, Aldine ISD’s Director of Visual Arts, praised McCraw’s accomplishment, emphasizing his outstanding contributions to the district. “Mr. McCraw wears many hats at Impact Leadership Academy, but his role in developing a thriving visual arts program is truly special. He has created an environment that nurtures creativity and enhances the educational experience for our students,” Newman stated.
Newman congratulated McCraw, highlighting his unwavering dedication to his students and the broader art education community. “This incredible honor is a testament to Mr. McCraw’s passion and commitment. He consistently gives more than 100% to ensure that our students thrive artistically and academically. We are deeply proud of him and grateful for the inspiration he brings to all of us.”
