Rayford Intermediate Celebrates Generation Texas Week to Promote Higher Education

Rayford Intermediate School students received a visit from four representatives from Texas A&M University on November 22 during Generation Texas Week. The visit from the Texas A&M folks served as the culminating activity for Generation Texas Week, which is designed to motivate students to pursue a higher education.

Rayford Intermediate students heard from Eric Watson, university recruiter; Professor Dr. Brandy Kelly-Pryor, Lyndon Pryor, student programs advisor; and Aja Houston, a senior student at Texas A&M.

During a question and answer session, the group informed students not only about the recruitment process and financial aid but also about the academic expectations from professors and some information about college life. They also encouraged everyone to do well in school so that they can become Texas A&M students. The presentation ended with students talking to panel members in small groups.
