Victory Early College High School Student Wins 1st Place in HBA’s Law Day Photography Contest

Miguel Parra from [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Victory Early College High School won first place in the Houston Bar Association’s 2015 Law Day Photography Contest.

Folks across the country celebrate [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Law Day on May 1. Its purpose is to celebrate and appreciate the liberties Americans have. Law Day also serves to remind everyone how the rule of law protects our freedoms and our system of justice.

In recognition of Law Day, the [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Houston Bar Association sponsors the annual contests. The poster contest is for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Students in ninth through 12th grade can compete in the photography contest. This year’s theme is “Magna Carta: Symbol of Freedom Under Law.”

As a winner, Miguel will receive a $300 prize. His art teacher Larissa Schwartz also wins. She will receive $100.

The HBA has invited Miguel and Schwartz to attend the [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Houston Young Lawyers Association Law Day Luncheon set for May 4. The HBA will honor Miguel at the event for his achievement.

Victory Early College HS gives students an opportunity to complete two years of college credit toward a bachelor’s degree. The campus made Newsweek‘s top 500 U.S. schools ranking. Victory ECHS also earned recognition in U.S. News & World Report‘s high school rankings. The campus also ranked in Niche’s Top 100 Best High Schools in the Houston area.
