AISD’s Jacqueline Tello Wins 1st Place in the Houston Public Library 2015 Tween Photo Contest

[dropcap color=”#888″ type=”square”]T[/dropcap]he 2015-2016 school year started out with a win for Jacqueline Tello. She took first place in the [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Houston Public Library Tween Photo Contest.

Jacqueline received a certificate and a $100 prize. She is currently a ninth grade student at [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Victory Early College High School. Her art teacher in 2014-2015 at [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Stovall Middle School was Monica Thayer.

The contest was open to children aged 11-13 in HPL’s service. The tweens had to submit original work. Photo topics were scenery, people, and animals. Her photo is on display on the fourth floor of the [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Houston Public Library downtown.

Jacqueline is raking up accomplishments. As an eighth grade student, she placed first in the Group Exhibit at the [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]District History Fair. During her seventh grade year, she qualified for the [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Duke TIP Academy for Summer Studies. The Duke University program identifies students with outstanding intellectual potential.

[icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Victory Early College HS gives AISD students an opportunity to complete two years of college credit. The campus made [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Newsweek‘s top 500 U.S. schools ranking. Victory ECHS also earned recognition in [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]U.S. News & World Report‘s high school rankings. The campus also ranked in [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Niche’s Top 100 Best High Schools in the Houston area.
