Children’s Music Festivals Are Right Around the Corner
The two events set for April 9 and April 16 will showcase 70 performances from districts in the area.
The Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) featured the Aldine Children’s Choir on the May 2017 cover of Southwestern Musician. This is the official publication of TMEA.
[dropcap color=”#888″ type=”square”]A[/dropcap]ll year they have been fine tuning their instruments and exercising their vocal chords. Now, they put their skills to the test.
While the festivals are a celebration of children’s musical talents, this is a competition. Colleen Riddle is the founder of the Children’s Music Festival of Houston. She is the program director of music education in Aldine ISD. The Festivals showcase elementary choral and instrumental ensembles in the greater Houston area.
“I invite the community to support the these talented young artists,” said Riddle. “The students will perform musical pieces with judges adjudicated performances. The competition gives students a goal to strive for. The reward is seeing their hard work and dedication rewarded.“
Aldine ISD students will compete with peers from many districts. Performances include ensembles from Alvin, Humble, KIPP, Conroe, Huntsville, Pasadena, Magnolia, Katy, Spring, Alief, and Klein. The competitions will take place at the [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]M.O. Campbell Educational Center (1865 Aldine Bender Road). The center os also known as the MOC.
