Aldine ISD Film and Photography Festival Set for May 18 at M.O. Campbell Educational Center

The festival is free to attend and open to all members of the public.

Check out creations from our students and staff across the District! The 3rd Annual AISD Film and Photography Festival is set for May 18 at the M.O. Campbell Educational Center. (1865 Aldine Bender Rd, Houston, TX 77032).

The festival provides an authentic venue where students can show their knowledge of today’s media and technology. Students work on projects that develop high-order thinking skills and problem-solving techniques. The media projects also develop team-building and cooperative communication skills.

Enjoy a Rich Media Extravaganza!

Students who have a passion for the moving image — animation and film — put their skills and creativity to the test as they developed projects of their own.

These young creators have written, directed and acted in their short films. Animation students conceptualized, developed storyboards and created their innovative digital animated short films. They are all vying for a chance to win.

Film Categories

The judging committee is still reviewing the elementary to high school entries. Judges will score works for writing and concept as well as quality of craft (i.e. filmmaking process, technical execution).

Snippets of the finalists’ films will be shown at the festival.

Digital Artistry Caught in the Camera’s Eye

Students also used photography to capture their unique perspective of the world. Their creative and inspiring photographs will make you want to stop and study them. Judges have their work cut out for them with more than 475 student works submitted from nearly every campus.

This year, festival organizers made the decision to include a Staff Photo Contest to form part of the festival. More than 100 employees submitted photographs.

Arrive early to check out the Digital Photography Exhibit (doors open at 5:30 p.m.) at the festival. See the talent as well as diverse work and interests of the AISD community.

The winning photographs in all four categories will be featured in a calendar to be sold benefitting the Aldine Education Foundation (Click here or on the icon to learn more about AEF.). This is the second consecutive year the foundation is underwriting the festival.

This is an excellent opportunity to see works from our talented students and staff. Everyone will enjoy the film festival-style showcase.

The FREE event is open to the general public. The Aldine Broadcast Network will stream the festival live on YouTube.
