7 Aldine ISD Educators to Share Their Experiences at 2019 INSPIRE Aldine Event Set for Feb. 21

The fourth annual INSPIRE Aldine is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21 at the M.O. Campbell Educational Center – Teaching Theater (1865 Aldine Bender Rd.). If you can’t attend, don’t worry. The event will stream live online at www.aldinetv.com and https://aldineisd.org/live.

Bullock

Teaching is one of the most rewarding professions. However, the teaching profession is unlike most other jobs or careers. It comes with its own unique demands. Educators are expected to be sources of knowledge, entertainers, cheerleaders, and innovators. More times than not, they have to be all of these things and personas at once and every day.

Every day educators get the chance to inspire young people. They use their skills to engage students and guide them to navigate their own learning.

To do this, educators work long hours. Every day they have to figure out ways to reach all students.

One way to maintain your passion and drive is to find inspiration from your colleagues. INSPIRE Aldine is an opportunity to recharge your batteries. Hear what they have experienced and what inspires them.

Telling Their Stories … Real-life Experiences

The INSPIRE Aldine Committee selected seven educators. They each came to the job from different walks of life. Their stories range from career changers to career progression. Others will talk about making a difference. Some will share how they made their dream to teach reality and gained the confidence to make a difference.

A Look at the Educators Taking the Spotlight at INSPIRE Aldine 2019

Anthony Bullock, Aerospace Science Instructor at Davis HS

Bullock retired from active duty in the Air Force with honorable service after 22 years. The majority of his career was spent in special duty assignments. Since taking the position at Davis HS, his team has competed achieved success at nationals for three consecutive years. Bullock defines success as really nothing more than the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.

Fuentes

Ann-Renee Ceaser, Reading Teacher @ Reed Academy

Ceaser brings the books she and her students are reading to life. By acting the characters’ roles, creating models of favorite scenes and much more, Ceaser is taking her students to places around the world and they are learning about different people. She is teaching her students to open their minds and their hearts through literature.

Mandelé Davis, Assistant Principal @ Aldine HS

In Mandelé’s current role, she supports the campus’ vision of enhancing the student-centered, college-going culture. She had led those efforts through the establishment of the Aldine Honors Academy and the iCare Student Mentoring Program.

Hanna

Alex Fuentes, English Teacher @ Nimitz HS

Fuentes brings the English language and literature to life through creative storytelling and relatable lessons. His ability to build a rapport with his students creates a positive environment of communication and trust. Students leave his classroom with a better sense of who they are and who they want to become.

Norma Hanna, Bilingual PreK Teacher @ García-Leza EC/PK/K School

Hanna became a teacher because she wanted to make a difference. As the daughter of two migrant workers, Hanna overcame poverty and language barriers. She has become a great educator.

Schattle

Hanna earned Campus Teacher of the Year and Suburban Association for Bilingual Education (SHABE) Teacher of the Year.

Gerald Schattle, Principal @ Aldine Education Center

Schattle believes that community is what made his experience in Aldine so enriching and wants to continue to build a community to support the next generation.

Andrea Soliz, Science Teacher @ Grantham Academy

Soliz

Soliz is an alumna of Grantham Academy. She returned to make a difference in her community. Soliz is an educational experience coordinator for eighth-grade science. She believes learning should be fun and engaging. Soliz strives to create enjoyable experiences that turn into impactful memories.
