While there is a lot of focus on teachers, we can’t forget our nurses. Wednesday, May 6 is National School Nurse Day! Our school nurse nurses play an integral role in the health of students, regardless of whether they’re in school or not. They lead the way in supporting health and ensuring that students are healthy, safe, and ready to learn. Please thank your favorite school nurse this week.

• We launched Senior Spotlights to honor the work and accomplishments of the Class of 2020. 
• Fifteen Aldine ISD students earned a State VASE award.
• Paul Cordova was named Aldine ISD’s new Police Chief.
• Superintendent LaTonya Goffney was selected to join Chiefs for Change.
  

The COVID-19 Task Force continues to meet. Additionally, a working group of teachers and leaders in Aldine ISD is reimagining how the district will prepare for the return of students next school year. No decisions have been made as of today.

As a reminder, Aldine ISD schools and facilities are closed through May 28, the last day of instruction.
