Texas Children’s Hospital to Provide Vaccines to Aldine ISD Community

As of May 10, 2021, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has expanded the emergency use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for everyone ages 12 years and older. Aldine ISD has partnered with Texas Children’s Hospital to provide COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer) for Aldine ISD staff, students, and the community.

Appointments for Aldine ISD students 12 and up, families, and staff to receive the first or second dose of the vaccine will be available at the M.O. Campbell Educational Center – 1865 Aldine Bender, FM 525 Houston, TX 77032 – on Friday, June 4 and Saturday, June 5.

Students, staff, and others who received their 1st vaccine on May 14, 2021 will receive their 2nd dose on Friday, June  4, 2021, and those who received their 1st vaccine on May 15, 2021 will receive their 2nd dose on Saturday, June 5, 2021. Parents will need to be present with students under the age of 18 to consent.

After you complete the registration form, you will be registered to receive a free vaccine from Texas Children’s. You will then receive an email to schedule your vaccine appointment. 

Please have your vaccination card, ID badge, other appropriate ID, and your insurance card if available at the time of the appointment.

Important information to know before your appointment:

• You cannot receive the COVID-19 vaccine within 14 days of receiving another type of vaccination. In addition, you should not receive another type of vaccination until at least 14 days after your COVID-19 vaccine.
• The appointment will last approximately one hour. For your safety, after you receive the vaccine, you must wait 15 – 30 minutes to be observed for any potential adverse reactions per recommendations from the CDC.
• One additional person age 18 and older is permitted to accompany you to your vaccine appointment. Siblings, children, or other visitors younger than 18 years of age will not be allowed.
• Masks are required for the duration of your visit.

Adjustments to Quarantine Protocols
Following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control, Aldine ISD will no longer require fully vaccinated students and staff without symptoms to quarantine if exposed to a lab-confirmed positive COVID-19 case. 

Individuals are considered fully vaccinated: 

• Two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or
• Two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine

Students who are fully vaccinated are encouraged to provide a copy of their vaccination card to their campus nurse to enter into their student health immunization records. Staff will only be asked to provide their vaccination records to their supervisor in the event they are identified as an exposure to a positive case.
