Government Relations and Constituent Services

Learn more about Aldine ISD’s four priorities for the 89th legislative session.

STUDENTS FIRST

  • Base funding on enrollment of students instead of Average Daily Attendance indexing it to keep pace with inflation.
  • Fully fund PreK.
  • Lower the required Additional Day School Year (ADSY) number of instructional days from 180 to 175 school days with the 75,600 instructional minutes.
  • Add funding for middle schools as part of the ADSY programming and incentivize districts with ADSY funding based on the number of ADSY days.
  • Increase state funding for special education students based on the services and needs detailed in a student’s individualized education program (IEP).
  • Advocate for the revision of recent SHARS policy ensuring that districts can continue to provide essential health-related services to students with disabilities.
