Victory Early College High School: TEA Nominates Aldine ISD Campus for National 2015 Blue Ribbon Honors

The [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Texas Education Agency nominated  [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Victory Early College High School along with 25 other campuses from throughout the state.

Founded in 1982, Blue Ribbon Schools is a [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]U.S. Department of Education program. It recognizes schools where students perform at high levels.

TEA nominated the schools for the 2015 honor based on academic performance. The agency looked at state assessments or nationally normed tests to determine selection. Each school has an economically disadvantaged population of 25 percent or greater.

Victory Early College High School ranked in [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Niche’s Top 100 of Best High Schools in the Houston area. The campus received an “A” to make the list of the top schools in the Houston area in 2014. Victory Early College High School also recently made [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Newsweek‘s ranking of the top 500 schools in the U.S. The campus is raking in honors. Victory Early College High School also earned recognition in [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]U.S. News & World Report‘s 2014 high school rankings.

Dr. Phyllis Cormier is honored that TEA nominated [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Victory Early College High School. She serves as principal at the campus.

“It really is an honor that the state nominated Victory Early College High School,” Cormier said. “The staff works to meet the needs of all students and to prepare them for college. I am extremely proud of our students and our staff for their dedication to the success of our school.”

The nominated schools must now complete a rigorous application process through the U.S. Department of Education. Announcements of the national award winners will be made in September 2015.  Schools that receive the award are recognized at the Blue Ribbon School conference in Washington, D.C.
