Victory Early College High School Honored With 2020 College Success Award

Launched in 2018 by GreatSchools.org, the College Success Award honors schools that excel in ensuring students prepare for college, enroll in college, and succeed once they get there.

This year, Victory Early College High School is among 2,158 award-winning schools from 29 states, demonstrating a successful track record of graduating students who later enroll in two- or four-year college. According to available data from each state, these students are ready for college-level coursework and then persist onto their second year.

The award-winning schools represent about 21% of eligible public high schools across 29 states, selected to receive the 2020 College Success Award.

To earn the award, schools must be in the top 30th percentile in the state for an average of the following college success indicators: college remediation, college enrollment, college entrance exam participation/scores (SAT/ACT), college persistence (enrolling in the second year of college) and high school graduation. Each winning school also has to be above average for each of these indicators individually.

“This award speaks volumes of the hard work of the entire Victory Early College High School community—including students, parents, and others who help our students succeed. It speaks of educators’ dedication, to the long hours they put in to provide a quality and rigorous instruction to our students,” Principal Phyllis Cormier said.
