Dear Aldine Community,

April is quickly coming to a close, but we are already looking toward summer and giving students more choices and opportunities. So much thought has gone into creating our summer programs. These programs will have students learning, getting ahead on credits, as well as exploring and diving into their interests. I hope you take advantage of these opportunities.

On the topic of our Aldine summer learning experience, we have an exciting new opportunity for our students. Through our partnership with iEducate, we are looking to hire eligible students and alumni to serve as tutors this summer. They will have the opportunity to work with selected elementary students who need additional learning support. If you or someone you know is a future teacher, this is your chance to gain some teaching experience.

Congratulations to Victory Early College High School! For a 10th consecutive year, Victory Early College earned high national and metro-area rankings. Today, in the 2022 “Best High Schools Rankings,” U.S. News & World Report unveiled which public high schools rank the best.

In addition to our focus on preparing students for college and careers, our extracurriculars are a large part of the educational experience. Again, please visit our website to read about the great things our students and schools are achieving. Read about Carver High School earning three Tommy Tune nominations and our student-athletes in track and softball advancing to regionals and earning playoff berths.

During this last week of Community Outreach Month, I want to take an opportunity to highlight our police officers. They do so much more than protect our students, staff, and communities. I encourage you to visit our website to read about how officers like Ariel Holliday are working to build bridges with our students and communities.

Don’t forget! This Saturday, Aldine ISD hosts two big events: STEMFest and Festival de Primavera (Spring Festival). I look forward to seeing you there and talking with you about all things Aldine!

Have a great week, and remember to keep moving #AldineForward.

With Aldine Pride,

Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney
Superintendent
