District Implements New Protocols for 2020-21 School Year

The district will implement recommendations to increase safety and health for students and staff.

The safety and security of Aldine ISD students, staff, and parents will be a priority when the 2020-21 school year begins on Aug. 17.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the district will adhere to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) safety guidelines to increase the safety and security of its students, staff, and parents.

AISD’s Operations Department is collaborating with district leaders to implement social distancing recommendations that align with district health and safety protocol. Signage and other markings will be visible throughout all campuses and district facilities to promote healthy habits while inside district buildings.

Aldine’s custodial staff will thoroughly clean all schools and district facilities multiple times throughout the day during the school year and following the school day. High-touch and high-traffic areas will be monitored closely. AISD will encourage all students and staff members to use hand sanitizer, and disinfectant wipes available throughout each building.

The Texas Education Agency has mandated that masks will be required for all students and staff inside campuses unless medically exempt. Staff members will use see-through face shields in situations where facial recognition and cues are essential, especially for younger children and those students who may have special needs.

Aldine ISD will also implement the following safety guidelines during the 2020-21 school year:

• AISD has invested in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for students and staff.
• AISD has invested in an EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) approved disinfectant for frequent cleaning and sanitation.
• Sanitizing stations and disinfectant misters will be available at all campuses and district facilities.
• Hand sanitizer and a disinfectant solution will be provided to staff to use during class changes.

The cooperation of all staff will be essential to maintaining a safe and germ-free environment as the Aldine community continues to fight the spread of COVID-19. Training will be provided to all staff on the district’s Health and Safety Protocol, and AISD will continue to work collaboratively so as not to contribute to the spread of the virus.

Aldine ISD understands that each family has unique concerns due to health or other circumstances about returning to a daily routine while coexisting with COVID-19. Aldine ISD supports parents in making decisions that are best for their children and families.
