Dear Aldine ISD Family,

It’s graduation season, and I can’t wait to shake the hands of almost 4,000 students as they cross the stage and begin their journeys, which will most definitely include many choices and opportunities. Graduates, we are proud of you and are excited about the impact you will make on the world. This is a time to reflect on your successes, celebrate your accomplishments, and look forward to the possibilities ahead. I remember how excited I was 30 years ago when I graduated from high school. I was ready to become a Sam Houston State University Bearkat. Whether you’re going to college in Texas or out of state, or you are entering the workforce or entering the military, don’t forget about your roots in Aldine.

I want to pause and thank our students, parents, staff and community as we close the 2024–2025 school year.

We have experienced another exciting year filled with challenges, triumphs, and undeniable progress. Guided by our new Accelerate strategic plan and rooted in our Portrait of a Graduate, we’ve continued to ensure every student is known by name, strengths, and needs and, most importantly, graduates with choices and opportunities..

Here are just a few highlights:

Launched our HEAL Program at Nimitz High School — now recognized nationally by Newsweek — to support students pursuing healthcare careers.
AISD, UHD, and Lone Star College launched the 2+2 Program, a cybersecurity degree pathway.
Expanded early childhood access with half-day prekindergarten for 3-year-olds, knowing that the path to success begins early.
Extended dual credit opportunities to 10th graders, empowering more students to earn college credits sooner.
Invested in our most vulnerable, including new supports for homeless students and family engagement clerks at every Title I campus.
Blanson CTE High School achieved a Silver Distinction, with Avalos P-TECH School earning a Bronze. Both received AP Access Awards from the College Board’s AP School Honor Roll. It is Blanson’s second consecutive year to obtain the honor.
Celebrated academic excellence with nearly 100 AP Scholars, 88 College Board National Recognition Program honorees, and five schools ranked among the best in Houston.
Earned state and national honors: two magnet schools received National Magnet School Awards, and we were named a CTE District of Distinction.
Recognized our visual arts program as a TAEA District of Distinction for the sixth consecutive year. With talented students earning a National Gold Medal in the prestigious Scholastic Art & Writing Awards and top awards at the State VASE, it’s no wonder!
Carver High School once again has multiple nominations for the Tommy Tune Awards. Districtwide, nearly 70 high school thespians advanced to the International Thespian Festival (a national event for students) in June 2025. Additionally, Carver’s orchestra program brought 100% of its orchestra students to the contest for the first time in school history!
Over 100 AISD students were invited to join Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society.
Two district elementary schools reached the State Destination Imagination finals and medaled.
AISD students advance to the National History Day after top finishes at the state contest.
Aldine High School’s baseball team brought home their second straight district title and the Davis High School girls’ swim team won the District 14-6A title.
Launched the inaugural District Spanish Spelling Bee, advanced students to regional and state contests, and spotlighted multilingual excellence. One emergent bilingual Ermel Elementary student won the NABSE bilingual essay contest.
Watched MacArthur’s Academic Decathlon Team return to state for the first time in 10 years, taking third place overall! One student advanced to earn top honors in several events at the Individual Division at the National Academic Decathlon!
Expanded our ACE model to Worsham and Goodman, with Goodman also earning the TSCA CREST Award for counseling excellence.
Approved pay raises for all employees and increased our starting teacher salary for the 2024-2025 school year because our people make an #AldineImpact.
Celebrated our history with the first-ever Legacy Holiday Event, honoring leaders who shaped our district.
Raised over $200,000 at the FFA Auction and over $139,000 through the Aldine Education Foundation Golf Tournament — both supporting student futures.
Advocated fiercely for public education, joining students and leaders in Austin to ensure every Aldine student’s voice was heard at the Capitol.
Marked progress on Bond 2023, including Carver High School as the first school rebuild and tech upgrades across campuses.
Earned state family engagement awards, including our Parent Leadership Academy and Family and Community University. Incidentally, our SHINE (Supporting Honoring Inspiring New Educators) initiative earned state honors from MASBA.
Celebrated the talents of our students, from mariachi and poetry contests to National Signing Day and a student-athlete finalist for the Touchdown Club’s Scholar-Athlete Award.
Over 60 high school and middle school students earned prestigious scholarships, such as the Gates Foundation Scholarship and EMERGE scholarships to top-tier colleges and summer learning opportunities.
We created the Lighthouse Mentorship Project for targeted district students at three campuses.
2025 marks the first graduating class of La Promesa. Instead of 10 high school graduation ceremonies, AISD has 11.
A Nimitz High School student-athlete placed fourth at the UIL 6A State Track and Field Meet; an Aldine High School senior was named to the 2024-2025 NHSCA National Academic All-American Team.
AISD received a $2.3 million grant to help fund cybersecurity initiatives, services, and hardware throughout the district.
Celebrated the first cohort of two-way dual language students who completed the primary levels (K-5). They will continue their dual language experience in middle school. Over 400 graduating seniors received their Seal of Biliteracy.

These milestones aren’t just accomplishments — they prove we are moving forward together. They are an embodiment of the collective efforts of our community, which prepares academically equipped students as critical thinkers, leaders, and compassionate citizens — true reflections of our Portrait of a Graduate.

As we look to the future, we know our work is far from over. But I am confident that with your continued partnership and unwavering support, we will keep accelerating toward a future where every child has the opportunity to thrive.
